Sister's Conference

Hey everyone!! So it feels like we just talked....because we kind of just did...but that's okay! Just a couple of funny notes from the skype call, when I could see you and not hear you, the cortes family was there helping me. Hermana Cortes was like...wow your mom is sooo pretty! And then Jake started dancing funny in the background and everyone was laughing. Bianca, their two year old daughter has had the missionaries in their house many times to talk with their families so she got really close to the computer and pretended like she was crying and said, "I love you! I love you!" in English. It was sooo funny!
Well, the biggest thing from this week was the special sisters conference! For most of the mission, it was a quick three hour meeting during the day with lunch included and then everyone returned to their areas to finish working for the day. For campo it was a twenty four hour trip!  We had a lot of time waiting in bus stations, so we got to go out and explore the city a bit. Because the bus stations go to places all over South America, the stores close by sell things from other countries. I was able to find peanut butter and cilantro and my companion bought platanos which she says are NOT bananas but they look the same to me.

Anyway, in the conference, president got up in front of everyone and was really serious and silent. He wrote on the white board "....with an eye SINGLE to the glory of God." And then looked at as and said, "Sisters...what does that mean?" and sat down. Then each of the sister training leaders got up and gave a little talk. They were all really creative and cute. One companionship talked about obedience and did a little skit. One sister was the obedient missionary, and the other the disobedient. Afterwards, we were all feeling a little guilty. Some of the things the disobedient missionary did were a little too familiar. Like when it is exactly eight o clock and time to study and you just want to go to the bathroom real quick and put on mascara, but that costs you one minute and one minute late isn't obedient. All of the talks were great. I especially loved the talk about faith that Sister Foutz gave. She talked about faith and compared it to the story in Matthew fourteen when the apostles are in the boat and they see Jesus walking on the water. They get excited and peter asks Him to bid him come. When Jesus says come and peter comes, its harder than he thought and he says, "save me" and falls. Christ then asks why he doubted. She compared it to the mission. Before we got here, we saw the influence of the savior in our lives and desired to go on a mission. We put in our papers and Christ said "come" but when we got here it was a little harder than we thought and we got on our knees and said, "Save me" and Christ asked "Why doubtest thou?" She then had us close our eyes and imagine opening our call. She had some piano music playing in the background and her companion read our mission call out loud. All the sisters were in tears by the end.
President then ended the meeting by talking about how we come to the mission with lots of different reasons for why we are there, but we should figure out in the mission that the ONLY reason we are there is to be a disciple of Christ and do the will of the father. Not with an eye mostly focused on the glory of God but SINGLE! He talked about how he chastises us because he loves us and that's what a good parent does. Christ had a good Parent. When he was in agony and asked if there was any other way, his strict but loving parent said No, and sometimes thats what parents do. Finally we watched a video called Because of Him that was AMAZING that had us all crying and the meeting ended. You should all go watch it. I think you can find it on mormon.org and it's call Because of Him.  It's great.
So... I am hugely better committed to remembering the reasons I am out here and doing the Fathers will!

I Love you all a ton!

A few of the hermanas from campo walking to the offices bright and early!
The priveledges of campo..... Our bus left Junin at 2 in the morning and we arrived at six thirty in Buenos Aires for the special sisters conference! The Senior couple in the offices had a french toast breakfast ready and waiting and then we had until noon to go to an extra apartment with fifteen beds to "sleep" (more like talk with everyone because with cant call or send letters or anything with the other missionaries so it was our only chance).
A Picture of the sign as proof that I was in the offices after six months!
